Fraser River Indigenous Society – Bringing Tradition Home Program

February 1 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Fraser River Indigenous Society’s (FRIS) Family Development Programs will be offering the 2025 Winter session of Bringing Tradition Home Parenting Program starting on February 1st, 2025. The 8 sessions are scheduled to be in person on Saturday mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The BTH Program is intended to provide training, education, and support for Indigenous parents/caregivers residing in Ridge Meadows with the goals of improved parenting and family relationships and to support the participants in building culturally appropriate supports that increase the permanence and stability of their families. Preferences will be given to the families attached to MCFD and/or with their children in care within Ridge Meadow community.

The aim of the program is to support caregivers in developing:

  • An increased knowledge of traditional Indigenous parenting practices and the seven sacred teachings.
  • A better awareness of healthy child development stages.
  • The ability to use positive parenting practices confidently.
  • A stronger connection to parts of your culture and heritage.
  • A new parenting toolkit that can support the well-being of your children and your family.
  • Access to positive relationships with other people in your community.

The participants are expected to commit attending the full 8-week program. The spaces are limited, and any overflow requests will be waitlisted for the second round of the BTH Parenting Program later in the year.

Please RSVP ensure your spot. RSVP contact info: accessadmin@frisociety.ca
