SUMMARY:FRIS Braids on the Land Nature Group
DESCRIPTION:The Fraser River Indigenous Society Braids on the Land is a facilitated nature group based on the book\, Braiding Sweetgrass for Young Adults. This group is open to self identifying Indigenous children and youth aged 10 to 18 yrs. The group will explore Indigenous teachings\, relationships with the land\, storytelling\, and community stewardship through discussion\, creative activities\, and land-based learning. \nSchedule and Location\nTuesday\, March 31\, 2026 to Tuesday\, May 12\, 2026 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.\nAll sessions – except for field trips –  will be held at the FRIS (2nd Floor\, 11830 223 Street\, Maple Ridge). Outside activities will be in the FRIS garden or within the city block FRIS is located on. \nScheduled Field Trip Sessions\nTuesday March 31\, 2026 – Kanaka Creek Regional Park Fraser Riverfront (River Road) and Tuesday April 21\, 2026 – Alco Park. Ideal for people who are working\, this program offers evening classes in Chilliwack at the Sqwá First Nation Kw’ókw’etsxel Field Centre (opening September 2026).
