DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend the Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District Trades Showcase event on Thursday\, January 23\, 2025 from 5:30-8:30 pm at Thomas Haney Secondary School. The purpose of this showcase event is to promote SD42 Trades Training programs and to highlight careers in the skilled trades. Students and parents/guardians will learn about employment opportunities and gain industry insights directly from industry personnel. DESCRIPTION:SFU’s Annual Indigenous Student Preview Day will be held on January 31\, 2025 from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm at SFU – Burnaby Campus.   \nBusses will be provided. Please contact the Indigenous Education Department staff at secondary schools to sign up. \nThis event provides Indigenous students the opportunity to tour the Burnaby campus\, engage with SFU Elders and faculties\, and learn about SFU’s student services\, as well as enjoy a complimentary lunch at SFU’s renowned Dinning Commons. Indigenous Student Preview day encourages indigenous students in grades 8 through 12 to spend the day at SFU\, to experience what the day in the life of a current Indigenous SFU student is like. During Preview Day\, current Indigenous SFU students will share what it is like to be a student at SFU right now – we’ll visit the Indigenous Student Centre\, learn about the vibrant Indigenous community at SFU\, and connect with one of our Indigenous Student Centre Elders in residence.
