Lesson Plans

Overview: This resource explores the various terms used to describe Indigenous communities in Canada.  Students use a K-W-L chart to share what they know, want to know, and have learned about Indigenous peoples.  The document provides links to videos, books, and a game that students can use to expand their knowledge.

Defining Aboriginal and Indigenous Peoples

This lesson explores Indigenous heroes. The intent is to identify a hero they connect with, and learn more about their story.  Students complete a survey to determine a possible story for themselves in 10-15 years. The document provides links to videos and websites.
