Please join SD42 and Aboriginal Education in Welcoming Kathleen Anderson to role of District Principal of Aboriginal Education. Kathleen has been with SD42 since September 2022 when she accepted the role of Vice Principal of Indigenous Equity to action the 97 recommendations of the SD42 Deepening Indigenous Education and Equity report that was completed in June 2022.
As a proud Nuxalk Nation woman from Bella Coola, Kathleen brings a wealth of experience from both Vancouver Island North and Sooke school districts where she was also District Principal for Aboriginal Education. Kathleen replaces Kirsten Urdahl-Serr, Principal of Aboriginal Education, who is retiring from the role on January 31, 2024.
Joseph Martin, teacher and Elder coordinator for the department, has accepted the acting Vice Principal role for Indigenous Equity until June 2024.
