The Aboriginal Education Department, in partnership with Alouette River Management Society, will be participating in a Habitat Homes for Pollinators workshop. The students will learn about the importance of pollinators, build a honey hive frame, and learn about traditional plants and making balms. This event supports the goals in our Aboriginal Education Enhancement Agreement.

Students will meet at Allco Park (24959 Alouette Road) on Febuary 20, 2020 at 3:00pm and we will walk to the Alouette River Management Society. Aboriginal Education staff will meet you at the entrance of the park. Students will need to arrange transportation to and from Allco Park. If you would like to coordinate with other students attending the clean up, please complete the WhatsApp Permission form below.

Schedule:

3:00 pm:     Arrive at Allco Park

3:15 pm:     Arrive at ARMS and begin workshop

5:15 pm:     Pick up at Allco Park

Students will need to wear clothes and shoes suitable to being outside all day. We do expect it to be cold and wet. Students need to heed the instuctions of adults and use the proper safety equipment to minimize risk of being injured. We will be working with tools to build the hive. We will provide all students with a safety orientation before beginning the workshop.

The group will be supervised by Jessica Knott, Amelia Laidlaw and staff from ARMS. Please feel free to contact Jessica via email (Jessica_knott@sd42.ca) or phone (778-840-7752).
