Grade 6 students from across SD42 gathered at Westview Secondary for two days of connection and cultural learning. Students received a traditional welcome from Katzie Elder, Colleen Pierre, and Metis Senator, Philip Gladue, joined them on day 2 of the event!
On Day 1, students were organized into clans and rotated through 4 of 8 cultural activities – lacrosse, beading, drumming, weaving, painting, carving, archery, and bullrush weaving.
For Day 2, clans were were joined into larger groups to rotate through three sessions: Mobile Museum, Basketball with iSparc, and Metis Jigging.
The Aboriginal Education Department thanks staff and students of Westview Secondary for being gracious hosts to our event.
On April 16, 17, 2020, the students will meet again at Westview. Clans will rotate through the remaining four cultural learnings on Day 1. Day 2 is still in the planning stages. Stay tuned!
