FRIS Braids on the Land Nature Group

March 31 - May 12

The Fraser River Indigenous Society Braids on the Land is a facilitated nature group based on the book, Braiding Sweetgrass for Young Adults. This group is open to self identifying Indigenous children and youth aged 10 to 18 yrs. The group will explore Indigenous teachings, relationships with the land, storytelling, and community stewardship through discussion, creative activities, and land-based learning.

Schedule and Location
Tuesday, March 31, 2026 to Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
All sessions – except for field trips –  will be held at the FRIS (2nd Floor, 11830 223 Street, Maple Ridge). Outside activities will be in the FRIS garden or within the city block FRIS is located on.

Scheduled Field Trip Sessions
Tuesday March 31, 2026Kanaka Creek Regional Park Fraser Riverfront (River Road) and Tuesday April 21, 2026Alco Park. (Caregivers are required to participate in field trip sessions)
